Please note that these Terms of Service supplement our broader Website Terms of Use.

Before confirming your selection on the Website, please carefully read these Terms of Service. By accepting them, you confirm your agreement to comply with their provisions.

Should you have any complaints about our Services, you can contact us at info@volunteerism-cc.org.cy to obtain a copy of our complaints policy, which provides further information.

1. Definitions and Interpretation

“Account” means an account created by you in order to access the Services on the Website;
“Assessor” means the designated District Volunteerism Coordinative Councils responsible for veryfing and validating the Services requests submitted by the Beneficiary or by the Intermediary, or by organizations, facilitating Introductions between Beneficiaries or their Intermediaries and approve and validate Accounts.
“Basic Account” means an account created by a Volunteer’s, a Beneficiary’s, or a Group of Volunteers Account, which is not a Guest Account;
“Beneficiary” means a person who receives Volunteer Services from an Organization, or Volunteer.
“Content” means text, images, or other information that can be posted, uploaded, linked to or otherwise made available by you, regardless of the form of that content.
“Criteria” means the criteria set by the Organizer for the voluntary work/help or goods. The specific criteria are set out specifically in the advert.
“DVCC” means District Volunteerism Coordinative Council, which are responsible for different functions/operations in the Website as described in the document and may act as an Assessor or Organizer.
“Intermediary” means a person who, having authorization, assists the Beneficiary in submitting service requests and communicates with the Assessor and Volunteers on behalf of the Beneficiary to facilitate access to Services
“Introduction(s)” means the process whereby an Organizer is introduced to a Volunteer via the Website
“Organisation” means a legal entity, an organisation, its employees and representatives;
“Organizer” means the individual or the organization who seeks volunteer work/help or goods, which may, from time to time, engage in Introductions;
“Profile” means a profile created and processed by DVCC, when entering your information for a need or a volunteer work, which requires users to enter certain information in order to and to help facilitate Introductions;
“Services” has the meaning given to that term hereinunder;
“Terms of Service” means the terms and conditions relating to the Services as set out in this document or should these terms be set out on a web page as they are set out on this web page
“us” / “we” / “PVCC” means Pan Cyprian Volunteerism Coordinative Council;
“Visitor” means a user of the Website who has not created an Account or a Profile on the Website;
“Volunteer” means an individual or a group of people, using the Services, including, without limitation browsing and/or applying for volunteering opportunities on the Website
“Volunteer Engagement” means the engagement and/or agreement entered into between a Volunteer and an Organizer following a successful Introduction;
“Website” means www.ethelontis.net;
“you” means a user of the Website, including a Volunteer or an Organizer, whether you have an Account or a Profile or whether you are using the Website as a Visitor.

References to any legislation or legislative provision will include any subordinate legislation made under it and will be construed as references to such legislation, legislative provision and/or subordinate legislation as modified, amended, extended, consolidated, re-enacted and/or replaced and in force from time to time;

References to “in writing” or “written” include email.

The Volunteering Portal is an innovative platform that "brings together and connects people, volunteers, organizations, businesses and resources" for a common cause, support NGOs/those in need and work towards improving society.

Enables the posting of needs/ volunteering opportunities (Organizations/individuals can post their needs (for volunteer work, goods, etc) on the Portal)

Offers information about volunteering opportunities (The Portal helps people and organizations/businesses identify a cause that interests them or volunteer opportunity (in service/in kind).

Connects volunteers with organizations (Visitors can express their interest to support a cause (volunteering opportunity) posted on the Portal. Then the organization that posted the opportunity will be notified).

Enables donors to make donations (Through the Portal, interest in donations can be expressed to serve the needs of vulnerable groups and voluntary organizations/NGOs)

Enables individuals and groups to register as volunteers/or volunteer groups (When individuals/group register, they receive information on new volunteering opportunities that match their interests/skills/qualifications.)

The PVCC subject to the Terms and Conditions, grants District Volunteerism Coordinative Councils, as the Assessor the right to use the Portal in order to access, review, process all information and data on the Portal relevant for that DVCC volunteer service, to review of volunteer data, review of welfare recipients/organizations data, review of needs, processing of emails & sms, evaluation/identification of welfare recipients/organizations in relation to posting needs/volunteering opportunities and/or meeting needs, evaluation & posting of needs/volunteer opportunities and all other functions of the portal.

2. PVCC’s business model and Services

2.1 PVCC through the Website allows DVCC to facilitate:

2.1.1 Introductions between Volunteers and Organizers offering volunteering opportunities. Beneficiaries and Organizations submit their needs, which are reviewed and activated as posts by DVCC. Only when these needs are published on the frontend of the Website as volunteering opportunities can Volunteers express their interest (“Introductions”). Υou acknowledge that such needs and introductions are subject to DVCC review and approval.

2.1.2 the provision of specified support and development services for Organizers;

2.1.3. Enables donors to make donations (through the Portal, interest in donations can be expressed to serve the needs of vulnerable groups and voluntary organizations/NGOs)

2.2 For the avoidance of doubt, with the exception of natural person, the Services do not include:

2.2.1 arranging any Volunteer Engagement;

2.3 You acknowledge and agree that PVCC only owns the platform in which DVCC have the right use in the course of performing their duties. Once the Introductions has been approved by DVCC, undertaking of any volunteering arragnement will be agreed between the Volunteer and the Organizer under a separate legal arrangement. If any issues arise between the Volunteer and the Organizer during the Volunteer Engagement, then both Volunteers and Organizers will have legal rights of redress directly against the other party and not against PVCC/DVCCs.

2. 4 You acknowledge and agree that PVCC does not guarantee the identities of the Volunteers on its Website and Organizers should therefore take appropriate steps to ensure that they are comfortable dealing with the Volunteer they are being introduced to.

2.5 Upon acceptance of these Terms of Service by you online, DVCCs will, through the Website facilitate the procedures as described in Terms and Conditions.

2.6. The website enables donors to make donations.

3. Services

3.1 You acknowledge that the Introduction element provides no guarantee that the Organizer will find an appropriate Volunteer or goods in response to a request post.

3.2 PVCC/DVCCs will provide the Services using the best of their ability. Time will not be of the essence where we have stated on the Website that any specific actions will be performed within a specific time period.

3.3 Unless expressly stated otherwise in these Terms of Service, all warranties, conditions and other terms implied by law (whether by statute, common law or otherwise) are excluded from these Terms and Conditions.

4. The Organizer’s Obligations

4.1 You warrant to PVCC that your performance under the Volunteer Engagment will be performed by you and any individual acting on your behalf with due care and diligence, with integrity and to such high standard of quality as it is reasonable for the Volunteer to expect in all the circumstances.

4.2 You must at all times:

4.2.1 comply with all laws, guidance and regulations that apply to the Organizer (including, without limitation, those relating to data privacy, consumer law, and health and safety);

4.2.2 ensure that any website that is contained in or shared via your Organizer Profile on the Website complies with all applicable laws, guidance and regulations;

4.2.3 comply with the Terms and Conditions

4.2.4 comply with these Terms of Service;

4.2.5 comply with Acceptable Terms of Use;

4.2.6 comply with any vetting requirements that we may impose on you from time to time;

4.2.7 comply with all policies and requirements as specified on the Website, as updated by us from time to time;

4.2.8 inform DVCC of the outcome of all volunteering applications; and

4.2.9 make it clear to Volunteers that any subsequent work provided by them to you is part of a separate Volunteer Engagement and is not provided under these Terms and Conditions.

4.3 You warrant that If a request for volunteer help/work and/or goods is made for the benefit of a third party, you guarantee and warrant that you have the right to do so and additionally you hereby acknowledge and warrant that you have informed the individual beforehand. Furthermore, where applicable, you must obtain the individual's consent and/or act as their legal guardian (Court Order).

4.4 You guarantee to uphold strict confidentiality regarding all Volunteer information and personal data. Furthermore, you undertake to retain data related to the Introduction process only until the selection of a specific volunteer, after which the remaining information shall be promptly deleted. Additionally, you acknowledge and agree to utilize the personal data solely for the intended volunteer work or goods procurement, refraining from any further purposes. Accordingly, PVCC shall delete the data as per your instructions.

4.5 The organizer establishes and evaluates the criteria. If additional steps such as interviews or training are necessary, the organizer is responsible for arranging and conducting them, as well as evaluating their outcomes.

4.6 Τhe organiser further to the successful Introductions shall be responsible to request and/or receive necessary information in relation to the Volunteer (such as personal data, contact person in case of emergency, clean criminal record, certificate clean record regarding the prevention and combatting of sexual abuse, sexual exploitation of children, and child Pornography, etc). DVCC under their capacity as Assessor may have access, if provided outside the Website, to such data in order to facilitate Introduction.

5. Intellectual Property Rights

5.1 The property and any copyright design rights or other intellectual property rights in any material, data or other information provided to you by PVCC, including all information and content on the Website, (subject to any such rights of any third party) belong (or continue to belong) to PVCC.

5.2 You must not use PVCC’s name, trademarks, service marks or logos for any promotional or publicity purposes without our express written consent.

6. Data Protection

6.1 Data Processing Addendum is applicable.

7. Indemnity

7.1 As per these Terms, you acknowledge that you remain liable to Volunteers in relation to the Volunteer Engagement and that PVCC may suffer reputational damage if you do not perform your obligations under these Terms and Conditions. You hereby agree to indemnity PVCC in full against all losses, liabilities, costs, damages and expenses that we do or will incur or suffer, all claims or proceedings made, brought or threatened against us by any person (including a Volunteer) and all losses, liabilities, costs (on a full indemnity basis), damages and expenses we do or will incur or suffer as a result of defending or settling any such actual or threatened claim or proceedings, in each case arising out of or in connection with your breach of your obligations under these Terms of Service.

8. Limitations of Liability

8.1 PVCC/ will have no liability to you for any:

8.1.1 loss of profit (whether direct, indirect or consequential);

8.1.2 loss of use, loss of revenue, loss of production or loss of business (in each case whether direct, indirect or consequential);

8.1.3 loss of goodwill, loss of reputation or loss of opportunity (in each case whether direct, indirect or consequential);

8.1.4 liability you may owe to any third party (whether direct, indirect or consequential);

8.1.5 loss of use or value of any data or software (whether direct, indirect or consequential);

8.1.6 wasted management, operational or other time (whether direct, indirect or consequential);

8.1.7 loss of use or value of any data or software (in each case whether direct, indirect or consequential); or

8.1.8 indirect or consequential loss.

9. Confidentiality

9.1 Any information provided by PVCC or concerning PVCC’s affairs shall be kept confidential unless such documentation, materials, data or other information is accessible in the public domain or a disclosure of such information is required by law or regulatory authority.

10. Termination

10.1 Without affecting any other right or remedy available to us, PVCC/ at its own discretion may suspend or terminate your access to the Services under these Terms of Service with immediate effect by giving you notice if:

10.1.1 you fail to comply with the Terms and Conditions of the Website;

10.1.2 you fail to comply with your obligations in clause 4;

10.1.3 we receive a disproportionate number of complaints and/or any serious complaints (as determined by us in our sole discretion) about your Organizer on the Website;

10.1.4 you fail to, or we suspect that you have failed to, comply with any of the provisions of these Terms of Service;

10.1.5 we consider, at our sole discretion, that your registration (and ongoing registration) as an Organizer on the Website to be detrimental or potentially detrimental to the reputation of PVCC;

10.1.6 we consider, at our sole discretion, that you are acting in a manner that may result in PVCC suffering reputational damage; or

10.1.7 you are subject to an investigation by a competent regulatory authority

10.2 Without affecting any other right or remedy available to either of us, either you or we may terminate these Terms of Service with immediate effect by giving notice to the other if:

10.2.1 the other party commits a material breach of any term of these Terms and Conditions;

11. Consequences of Termination

11.1 without limiting the rights as per the Terms of Service, in the event of termination as described in clause 10 your access to the Services, including your access to your Account will end immediately;

12. General Provisions

12.1 These Terms of Service are personal to you and you will not assign or transfer in any way any of your rights or obligations without our prior written consent.

12.2 Any notice required or permitted to be given by either party to the other under these Terms and Conditions are to be in writing addressed to the other party at its trading address or such other address as may at the relevant time have been notified to the other party.

12.3 Nothing in these Terms of Service is intended to, or shall be deemed to, establish any partnership or joint venture between the parties, constitute one party the agent of the other party, or authorize a party to make or enter into any commitments for or on behalf of the other party. The parties acknowledge and agree, that each of them is an independent contractor, and nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall render either party (nor any staff of a party) an employee of the other.

12.4 If any provision of these Terms of Service is held by any competent authority to be invalid or unenforceable in whole or in part the validity of the remainder of the provisions in question shall not be affected.

12.5 These Terms of Service will be governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of Cyprus.
